Sarah Hilliard an 8th grader at NC was recently recognized for her efforts in bringing awareness to pediatric cancer. Sarah heard about a little boy (Baby Shawn) who was diagnosed with DIPG a rare form of brain cancer that is inoperable. She was concerned about Baby Shawn and the struggles he and his family would be facing, so she thought of a way to help and show baby Sean he wasn't alone!

Sarah held a pop can fundraiser to raise funds for his family and also presented him with a jersey and basketball! Sarah's efforts didn't stop there she helped with other fundraisers held for Baby Shawn as well as participated in the Go For The Gold walk promoting pediatric cancer.

Baby Shawn is beating the odds of DIPG and is the longest surviving patients of DIPG. Sarah preaches about what a strong inspiration Baby Shawn is and will continue to help raise awareness.

September 1st Sarah attended the Go For The Gold walk, during the walk, Mike Esposito honored Sarah during a press conference for all of her efforts thanking her for her efforts helping Baby Shawn and DIPG awareness!
